Brecon Mountain Rescue Team New HQ

Along with TV presenter Kate Humble, who, I must say, is exactly like her name suggests—a down-to-earth and enthusiastic advocate for the amazing work the team does—I was thrilled to be invited to the new and improved Mountain Rescue HQ a few weeks ago. The group has raised a tremendous amount of money for their new building via incredibly hard work, and the results are amazing.

It was lovely to chat with their Ambassador Kate and the other supporters, funders, partners and volunteers from other Mountain Rescue Teams.

We had a tour of the wonderful building and talks explaining how they carry out their amazing voluntary work rescuing people and assisting the emergency services.

We had visited the team at the launch of their appeal and were shocked how they were operating from their previous base was a miracle but they continued to save many lives and carried out many rescues. The buildings are worlds apart and will serve the volunteers for generations to come.

None of know when us or a loved one will need the services of Mountain Rescue, they do far more than rescue people off the hills!

Brecon Mountain Rescue Team is an emergency service staffed entirely by volunteers and funded by donations. Working from the Brecon Beacons National Park in the South, to Welshpool in the North East and Machynlleth in the North West. They are also frequently called upon to assist other Mountain Rescue teams operating in South and West Wales.

Their work is not restricted to rescuing climbers and hill walkers, their skills are also deployed by the police to search for vulnerable or missing persons in the community.
